The degree to which Mamdani pulls off a beard should inspire countless copycats

this is fantastic. it's bona fide anthropology!

i think we need to expand the study to rural and urban perceptions of beards, how beards are perceived in higher vs lower income zip codes, and so forth

i believe this is the first work in Hirsute Studies

but in all seriousness, this is really interesting.

I’m guilty of “hate to shave.” And at this point, people recognize me more with a beard. I’m way too lazy to update my LinkedIn photo 😂

When I met my boyfriend he rocked a goatee and I made him grow his beard out, it looks better and cuter! LOL.

I would really like to know what in the world is going on with all the mustaches. I am an elder millennial, and mustaches were always extremely uncool (minus the horrific and thankfully short-lived appearance of hipster-era handlebar mustaches). I work in finance and therefore see a lot of young aspiring finance bros, and it’s like a pandemic of mustaches. Could it be that young women actually like this? Baffling.

all those young men with mustaches and tousled hair look like Benson Boone acolytes even though the trend emerged before he became a thing. No one will ever rock a mustache as well as the king Tom Selleck in Magnum PI

I literally think it’s like, “hot cool people do something uncool to prove they can —> this makes that thing cool —> everyone does it”

Moustaches are the new beards. Particularly tiny ones that graze the upper lip

I feel like the Beard had a moment in Girls/Broad City 2010’s millennialcore, but only if accompanied with a flannel

Yeah exactly - which feels sort of cringe now (or so I thought……)
