Many years ago I came across Leonardo daVinci's comment: Just as a well-spent day brings happy sleep, a well-spent life brings a happy death.
So what is 'well-spent'?
Thoughts at age 95:
My own focus has been not in being happy but in deserving to be happy, realizing that in even the happiest life there are moments of intense pain.
Maybe another guide to 'well-spent' is the self-knowledge of what brings satisfaction and what brings joy and knowing that at times (but not always) the pursuit of satisfaction can diminish joy.
You can't take it with you ;)
Happy birthday. Very relevant post.
Thank you !!
